Flood Resilient
Private Vehicular Bridges

JZ Engineering works in collaboration with nonprofit agencies to replace private vehicular bridges destroyed by flooding. This partnership started with Mennonite Disaster Service (MDS) in the summer of 2015 after flooding in West Virginia. The bridges end the isolation from vital resources that the families are subjected to.

This disaster relief and future disaster prevention work has extended into flood damaged areas of southwest Virginia, Vermont, North Carolina, and eastern Kentucky. JZ Engineering has designed more than 150 bridges that have been successfully built by volunteer agencies.

ASCE MAGAZINE WILL FEATURE THIS WORK IN THE JANUARY 2026 ISSUE
